WEAKER SEX?

With the new row about to start on Republic Day in which hundreds of women are ready to break the age-old tradition of barring women from entering the sanctum sanctorum of the Shani Shingnapur temple situated in a village in Maharastra, it comes as a shame to the people who call themselves to be the safeguards of Gods and Hinduism, the authority of the temple and the Maharashtra government. In the 21st Century, when the Indian Prime Minister is batting for equality for women, launching a programme like the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme, a patriarchal tradition in the garb of religion comes as a slap on not only on the PM's face but also on the face of the Indian Constitution which gives equal opportunities to both men and women.
