....But that's what they say !!

Salaam Sri Krishna, Ram Ram Aleikum.

For a few years there has been a steady rise of one topic- ISLAAM! And attached alongwith are hundreds of sub-topics. The rise of the radical muslims all the world over have brought a bad name to the whole religion and some opine that it's less of a religion but more of a cult. All sorts of derogatory comments are passed by the non-Islaams all over the globe. But it baffles me no ends. I see people around me looking down upon the muslims, not accepting even a glass of water from a muslim's hand, hurling abuses even at their sight etc. but why?
As far as I remember I have a lot of muslim friends and I do not remember them hurting me or harming me or even bearing a wish to do so.
It's the global politics that has created the distinction between human beings. I accept that terrorists are ruining mankind and creating a crISIS, but that does not mean that my muslim friend is a culprit too.
When will we start thinking out of the box? One might say that it's easy for  me to say all these since I havn't been victimised. But for them I have an answer. I could not get a chance in Jamia Milia Islamia University, Delhi for two reasons- 1) I wasn't upto the mark and, 2) Maximum  muslims were chosen. But that did not irk me. Rather I see people who simply have no reasons whatsoever blurting out their displeasure.
The biggest part is, I do not understand why do we at all create a distinction between human beings?
I listen to a baul and get mesmerised by the words spoken by him. At the same time a qawal's praises for a khwaja or a peer is equally meaningful and beautiful. After all, all religions have said more or less the same things. Let me give you a testimonial.
The song maula maula maula mere maula has a stanza

Ek khusboo aati thi, ooo ek khushboo aati thi
Main bhatakta jata tha
Reshmi si maya thi
Aur main takta jata tha

Jab teri gali aya sach tabhi nazar aya (2)
Mujh mein hi woh khushboo thi
Jisse tu milwaya

And there is this doha which says the same thing

Kasturi kundal base
Mrig dhoonde ban mahi
Aisi ghati ghati ram
Duniya dekhi nahi

And trust me I could not find a difference. All religions make a person to believe that God resides within him and that we fail to realise and go in search of Him in mandirs, masjids and girjaas. We create a distinction between people but forget that a muslim or a christian or a hindu are but a human being. We claim our intelligence to be the best but then why do we fail to understand one siimple fact that religions are but just paths, different, but end at one place- GOD. And God cannot be named, he can only be felt. If you do not believe in what I say then listen to the bauls and qawals. They truly bear sense and whatever is going all the world over is nothing more than a political foolery.
Have a big heart and please stop this nonsense of looking down at some other religion. I have been straight enough in this note, want to punish me for that? I am ready for your punishments.
I believe we all are same... But that's what they say !!

Tum Kitne Afzal Maroge, Ghar Ghar Se Afzal Niklega!

It is hard to trace the origin of sloganeering or probably beyond my capability to do so but if we consider the broad meaning then sloganeering is an act to unite like-minded people, incite them and instill within them a sense of oneness, predominately for some cause. If I am not very wrong, if so I can stand corrected, sloganeering was made famous during the early days of uprising by rebels against the tyrannical rulers. In India, during the struggle for freedom, slogans were made to get people together and rise up against the British Raj. "Inkalaab Zindabaad" was one among many that was probably the most used and by far the most useful slogans used during those days. The two words simply mean "Long live Revolution" but the greater meaning had a great impact in the minds of millions who dreamt of waking up in a free country. Inkalaab Zindabaad was so famous that even in today's generation we use it almost anytime we wish to show our dissent towards s...

IS IT ISLAM THAT KILLS?

Terrorism, in the 21st century, is something that has not only shaken up all parts of the world but also has it brought bad name to the Muslims. People all the world over abuse the religion for giving birth to people who spread terror and kill innocents. And on top of that a new radical Muslim group springs up every now and then. But let us think about it rationally. Does all these incidents actually make the religion or so to say the the Quran a piece of shit? Consider a group of people forming a new radical group going about saying that their religion asks them to kill people, that their religion asks them to fight against the innocent. Does that mean we start believing that there is problem in the religious scripts of that religion? Anybody can claim anything, but we have been gifted with a mind which is supposed to be used rationally and not just follow arbitrary nincompoops. It is also baffling to see that whenever a terrorist attack takes place the media all over uses th...

Sangeet Som’s speech a dangerous premonition?

If there is presence of something today, then there has to be a past and this past is known as HISTORY. For example, if you have a metal idol in your hand, the matter was definitely in the form of an ore in some part of its journey. As for a country, well, knowledge about a State comes after reading about its History and to claim to change the same is dangerous and would ensure a dark future. BJP’s controversial lawmaker, Sangeet Som, who apparently paved way for the Muzaffarnagar riots, is back with yet another bizarre comment that he would change History. You may not like the idea that the Mughals ruled India for a long time but you can’t rub it off from History. After all, if your kid asks you who made the Taj Mahal, would you say that the Bharatiya Janata Party laid its foundation stone? His foolishness was also out in the open when he said that the one who built the Taj Mahal had imprisoned his father. Ehh wait a minute, Shah Jahan imprisoned Jahangir? Really? But t...
