RTI weakened or not???

The latest Madras High Court order to ask for reasons to file an RTI application form has created a buzz not only among RTI activists but also among citizens. It is being said that this order is going to decrease the power vested in the hands of the citizens. According to the RTI Act, specially incorporated Section 6 (2), which says an applicant making request for information "shall not" be required to give any reason for requesting the information. Now that the Madrs HC says that applicants should file reasons for seeking the information is actually against the spirit of the Act is what the activists are saying. The HC, however, said that if informations (sic) are to be furnished to a person, who does not have any reason or object behind seeking such informations... the intention of the legislature is not to effect that such informations are to be given like pamphlets to any person unmindful of the object behind seeking such information. The questions now arise that wil...

The Jadavpur Circus

I am a slut of the first order. I take pride in opening my dress in front of boys of 'my' choice and I find no mistake in my doing so. I can often be found in compromising situations where I might be half naked publicly with the boy I wish to be with at that moment. I love being touched in my private parts by boys of 'my' choice. BUT, when I do not have my consent for a boy to touch me, it is MOLESTATION. The recent development in Jadavpur University, Kolkata, is shameful. A girl complains of being molested and the authorities say that the girl's past history is not acceptable and of one which is prone to attract such kind of activities. She was alleged to have been found with her friend, engaged in a compromising act which reportedly led to some students to approach her and molest her as she was found suitable for that kind of an act to be carried out with. Preposterous!  What followed was more shameful. The girl was reportedly said that if she does not take...

The Abnormality of Normalcy

In today's world we tend to take a lot of things to be normal. While there can be certain conventions, there should be a demarcation. We tend to overlook or shall I say the society likes to ease matters by looking at them through a forced normal perspective? For instance, some find it very normal to urinate in the public and spit too while in our country there is a system of imposing fine on people who do such. But if we find someone doing so we stop not that person. Good reasons to back the forceful oblivion are; why bother until something is affecting me directly or why at all start a brawl with some person, who like many, thinks urinating in the streets is as normal as saving an injured animal! Well we might turn a blind eye towards such issues and run a risk of the society turning into a huge public toilet. But certainly we cannot turn blind to the risk of this society turning into a huge hell where women feel not safe. In India, it has become a cliché to discuss the so...

....But that's what they say !!

Salaam Sri Krishna, Ram Ram Aleikum. For a few years there has been a steady rise of one topic- ISLAAM! And attached alongwith are hundreds of sub-topics. The rise of the radical muslims all the world over have brought a bad name to the whole religion and some opine that it's less of a religion but more of a cult. All sorts of derogatory comments are passed by the non-Islaams all over the globe. But it baffles me no ends. I see people around me looking down upon the muslims, not accepting even a glass of water from a muslim's hand, hurling abuses even at their sight etc. but why? As far as I remember I have a lot of muslim friends and I do not remember them hurting me or harming me or even bearing a wish to do so. It's the global politics that has created the distinction between human beings. I accept that terrorists are ruining mankind and creating a crISIS, but that does not mean that my muslim friend is a culprit too. When will we start thinking out...

The Crippled Society

The country at this present moment is facing sensitive issues such as rapes and no solutions seem enough to stop this crime from being done by the alleged rapists. I conciously used the word alleged as many rape cases are just framed in order to either tarnish the image of a man or to quench one's thirst of revenge. But even if one rape case is true, aren't we all to be blamed for it? How? Look into yourself for a moment and you would see the answer lying within you. Suppose you are out on the streets and a girl passes by. No I will not say looking at the girl will be something very bad to do. But looking at the girl with lust in your eyes or probably looking at the cleavage and imagining how tasty it would be in your mouth is something which is wrong. In Quran it is said that if by mistake you look at a women with lust then lower your eyes and ask for reverance. So is said in the Holy Bible. Deny it, you cannot. My words might seem to be that of a lunatic or as some would...
